Roof Tear-Off and Architectural Shingle Installation around Intersecting Gables

Project Overview

This project follows roof work on a home with white siding above brick walls, several intersecting roof sections, and a red-brick chimney. The gallery documents old roofing being removed from a wood deck, local areas of exposed plywood, underlayment placement, and gray architectural shingles being installed along the slopes and roof intersections. Unlike a gallery made entirely from finished roof views, this set records the layers beneath the shingle surface. Close photographs show the earlier dark roofing material lifting from the wood, followed by wider views that explain how the main roof meets the lower gables and the chimney.

Analysis

The roof changes direction around several projecting gables and meets a brick chimney near one end. The tear-off views expose the wood deck and remnants of the earlier dark covering, while later views follow the same intersections beneath gray shingles. White siding, brick lower walls, and the neighboring gray house connect the different roof-level perspectives.

Process

The earlier roofing is removed in sections, exposing the wood surface and the junctions between the connected slopes. Preparation photographs show a blue GAF StormGuard-branded membrane laid along one area, with shingle bundles staged near the ridge. Other views show light printed underlayment beneath the advancing shingle courses. Installation continues around the projecting gables and toward the chimney. Close views record workers positioning shingles and ridge pieces, while broader views show the gray pattern extending across the connected roof sections. The set includes both the open roof fields and the smaller junctions where the roof changes direction.

Outcome

The photographed later stage has gray architectural shingles across the visible slopes, with ridge caps following the roof intersections. The sequence preserves a detailed record of the preparation layers beneath the finished-looking surface, including the exposed deck, membrane, and underlayment stages.
